RESIDENTIAL SERVICES
Contact Residential Services:
The Olean Center Residential Program provides
supports to adults with developmental disabilities who qualify
for services through MHRH-the Division of Developmental Disabilities.
Applications for services/supports must be voluntary and needs
to be made through contact with the Olean Center or DDD intake
worker/social worker. The Olean Center has no blanket exclusions
from services in the agency. Each request is reviewed on an
individual basis and services are provided on need and availability
of appropriate resources.
At the present time the Olean Center
operates residential supports in the following areas:
- Home/Family Support: Services are provided
to individuals who reside with family members in the community.
The services can include leisure/recreation activities,
skill development such as cooking, cleaning, banking, budgeting
money and activities of daily living such as hygiene and
bathing.
- Apartment Support: Services are provided
to individuals who are able to live semi-independently in
the community with out the need for over night support.
The services include leisure/recreation activity planning,
skill development such as cooking, cleaning, banking, budgeting
money, care of clothing, decision making, safety skill and
routine medical assessments by physicians and specialists.
- 24 hour Supported Living: Services are
provided to individuals who are not able to live with out
over night/24 hour supports due to medical, behavioral or
safety concerns. A structured routine is utilized to establish
a normal rhythm in the home. Each individual will have their
own room and be responsible for maintaining their bedroom
and the cleanliness in the home based on skill level. Family
contact will be encouraged and maintained. Leisure/recreation
activities will be tailored to each individual. The nurse
for the home will provide health assessments, monitor medication
and schedule routine visits with physicians and specialists
The Olean Center will provide supports to
the individuals so they can be as independent as possible.
Each person is recognized for their individuality and what
they can contribute to their home, family, friends and community.
Each person in the program will have an individualized program
to meet their needs. Specific goals will be developed around
independent living skills including making decisions for themselves,
safety skills and community inclusion.
