Our treatment team provides services dedicated to:

 

  • A family-centered approach. 

  • Strength-based service plan for children in their home and community.

  • Therapeutic relationship with parents or guardians in support of the child's development.

  • Providing culturally competent, responsive services.

IT'S WORTH MENTIONING...

65 children and their families from 16 communities throughout Rhode Island are currently in Olean Center's children's program.

OF THESE,
36 children have received Children’s Program services for 5+ years 

and 9 cases for 10+ years!

​

​

The Olean Center is licensed by the state of RI Department of Behavioral Healthcare, 

Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals.

Our children's services fall into two categories: Home Based Therapeutic Services (HBTS) and Personal Assistance Supports Services (PASS)

Home-Based Therapeutic Services
(HBTS)

HBTS provides intensive, in-home and community support to families of children with moderate to severe special health care needs.

 

The HBTS treatment team includes:

​

  • Clinician

  • Family support coordinator

  • Direct support professional

  • Parent/guardian

  • Specialty treatment consultants

​

HBTS addresses goals in five areas through the development of an individualized treatment plan:

​

  • Daily living skills

  • Socialization

  • Safety

  • Behavior management

  • Parental skills training

​

Based on therapeutic need, services can include:

​

  • Average of 2-4 shifts (average shift lasts 3-4 hours) per week of individual direct support from a para-professional

  • 2-3 hours per week of clinical treatment support

  • Monthly family meetings

  • Bi-weekly clinical support training for direct support professional 

​

Children who meet the following criteria may be eligible for HBTS:

​

  • Child is Medicaid eligible.

  • Between the ages of 3-21

  • Lives at home with family or legal guardian.

  • Diagnosed with a chronic and moderate to severe cognitive, physical, development and/or psychiatric condition.

  • Would be at risk of out-of-home placement or hospitalization without services.

Personal Assistance Supports Services
(PASS)

The PASS program allows parents and guardian to direct the services received by the child. This family-centered approach builds on the child’s individual strengths and fosters independence, while respecting family values and choices.

The PASS treatment team includes:

​

  • Clinician

  • Family support coordinator

  • Direct support professional

  • Parent/guardian

  • Specialty treatment consultants

​

PASS is designed to address goals in three areas through the development of an individualized treatment plan:

​

  • Daily living skills

  • Safety and self-preserving decisions

  • Social roles and social settings

​

​

Children who meet the following criteria may be eligible for the PASS Program:

​

  • Child is Medicaid eligible.

  • Between the ages of 6-21

  • Lives at home with family or legal guardian.

  • Diagnosed with a chronic and moderate to severe cognitive, physical, development and or psychiatric condition.
