We are focusing our fundraising efforts this year on providing critical improvements to our Specialty Hub.
This area of the Olean Center is vital to serving the needs of our most medically compromised participants. The Specialty Hub houses medical, therapeutic, and nursing services and provides specialized equipment designed to meet the needs of those who are intellectually and developmentally disabled.
Our most challenged participants spend time in this space daily not only for therapeutic and nursing services, but also to eat, rest, and refresh before taking part in community activities.
It is, unfortunately, showing its age and needs some work and updated equipment. A paint job and improved storage for more efficient use of the space will be a good start. But we also need new equipment for physical therapy and personal care. We need to update the automatic doors, and the heating and cooling system should be replaced for greater efficiency and comfort.
You can help transform this essential space into an inviting area that provides a respectful, cheerful, modern environment for the daily needs of our participants.
Most importantly, our adult participants will collaborate with staff in making decisions for the look and feel of this important space.
We have a good start with a generous donation of $1,000 from Hartford Healthcare directed to the Specialty Hub upgrades and Watch Hill Chapel Society has helped significantly by funding ventilation of our accessible bathrooms. You too can help bring it all to fruition and make a difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors with intellectual and developmental disabilities on a daily basis!
