Lori earns high marks as a ‘fantastic employee’

Updated: Oct 20, 2022

As a dietary aide at Royal Health Westerly, she provides dinner – and conversation

Lori gets high praise as a “fantastic employee” from those she works with at Royal Health Westerly on Beach Street.

As a Dietary Aide, Lori helps prepare and deliver meals to patients during her afternoon shift four to five days each week.

Lori has experience in the food industry, having previously worked at the Westerly Senior Center and Dunns Corners Market. She is especially proud of her ServSafe Certification, which means she has been trained in the proper handling of food served to the public. She took the course and earned her certification three years ago.

“It’s not easy. The test was hard but I passed it,” Lori said.

“I like working in the food industry. I used to do it with my mom at Pal’s General Store in Bradford,” she said.

“Lori is a fantastic employee,” said Kristen Kimery of Royal’s HR Department and the Business Office Manager. Lori started working at Royal Westerly in September, and while this is the first time the facility has employed an Olean Center participant, the engagement bodes well for the future.

“Lori enjoys her time here and talking with the patients, and she likes her hours because she has time during the day to do other things,” Kimery said. “She comes in early and works well independently. It’s been a great experience for both of us!”
