If you've spent time in Westerly, there's a good chance you've met Thomas. Whether he's enjoying lunch at the Westerly Senior Center, stopping for coffee at Dunkin', or visiting local shops, Thomas is a familiar face who greets people with a smile and enjoys being part of the community he calls home.
One of Thomas's favorite destinations is Martin House Books, where he loves browsing the shelves for superhero stories. Those larger-than-life characters often inspire another of his passions, creating art. His artwork has been featured in the Olean Center's annual art show at the Hoxie Gallery in the Westerly Public Library, giving him the opportunity to share his creativity with neighbors, friends, and visitors alike.
Thomas enjoys staying active and making the most of each day. Whether he's exploring downtown Westerly or spending time in Misquamicut, he treasures the friendships, conversations, and familiar faces he encounters along the way. Those everyday connections are an important part of what makes our community feel like home.
"I like being out with Ann (his Direct Support Professional) because she's nice," Thomas shared during a recent lunch at the Senior Center.
For Thomas, community isn't just a place to visit, it's a place where he belongs. And that's exactly what the Frank Olean Center strives to make possible every day.
